Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
"Rudolf was crowned in Aachen Cathedral on October 24, 1273, and his reign helped consolidate the power of the Habsburg dynasty in Germany and elsewhere. . . . Rudolf spent several years trying to establish his authority in Austria. In 1282, he succeeded in gaining the duchies of Austria and Styria for his two sons, thus laying the foundations for the House of Habsburg, but he was never able to maintain peace in Germany."
